Tuesday, March 25, 2008

The venerable Steven Epstein, Esq., (pictured left) and the youthful Mark Matluck (pictured right), will embark upon a challenge the first week of April, a challenge known to many, a challenge that might lead them to food Nirvana or to a pharmacy for lipitor, a challenge that will be an intense indulgence of the culinary art of BBQ in the southern states of Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina beginning this Saturday, March 29, 2008. Extensive and, at times, maniacal research has yielded us twain a smorgasboorg (sp? yet interesting word choice) of potential BBQ hot spots throughout the southeast region of the United States. "BBQ three times a day" appears to be a short-lived rallying cry for this pursuit of some of the seven deadly sins, but I am confident one motto or another will stick like BBQ sauce, literally and figuratively, to the spirit of this endeavour. Expect photos of pork and its glistening fat. Expect images of varying sauces, puppies, platters, and surprises. As I write this I am ignorant of whether viewers are permitted to post responses or comments. If so, I will publish that information here, on this blog, this kick ass, BBQ, road trip blog!

I am unable to satisfactorily answer inquiries about Mr. Epstein's ability to consume BBQ with only a few teeth. Stay tuned to the blog to satisfy your curiosity!

To my students: Thanks for checking in with me. I cannot help but analyze anything I do through the lense of benefitting all of you! If you can respond to this blog, then I cannot wait to hear (or read) from all of you. Otherwise, have a happy spring break and leave me alone.

I have no comments, and the only reason I am leaving this comment is to find out if one person can leave no comments. You are all invited to not leave a comment.

Nice picture of Orlando Bloom, Mr Matluck! It's one of my favorites. It is actually the very one that I have on my myspace. I hope you have an exceptional time on your BBQ trip.

1. Miles - I believe you meant to type "vaya con" . . . that means "go with." But I like the the thought - instead of "may you go with G-d" it is "may you go the way of the pig." I doubt anyone else could have figured this out.

2. Hey! Francesca! I sent off that recommendation form on Thursday. I'm psyched you have contributed, especially if you set an example for the other writers' club members whom I invited. I was expecting a pie in the face attempt from you today! Thanks again.

Thank you so much for the reccomendation.

For your information, I was in the endless line for food. I watched from afar and laughed maniacly. I was looking forward to throwing pie at you as revenge for all those TRIC essays. Oh, well. Food came first. I witnessed the last few minutes of Mr. Church's sticky defeat, however. They ran out of pie, so I couldn't throw any myself. It made me very sad.

Before you correct me (as I know you will), I spelled maniacally wrong. It is not "maniacly". Forgive me, oh all-powerful language arts teacher.

What do you mean by "pie ATTEMPT"? I would have totally gotten you!

Francesca - Spell any other words incorrectly? Just checking.

Actually, I can become so obsessive about the spelling and grammar of my posts that I wind up editing them several times. Fortunately for me, blogspot allows the actual blogger to edit without deleting or post-posting, if you know what I mean. But it is nice to have standards.

Thanks,

Mr. Matluck

First there was Lewis and Clark, then Abbott and Costello, now Epstein and Matluck - bold adventurers all, Now this new duo, in pursuit of perfect pork and bodacious barbeque (I want my five tickets), has awakened a new spirit in this country, not unlike Obama. I can't wait for the movie.

There are some truly frightening pictures in this blog, but for those of us interested in dental hygiene and BBQ, this is the place to be.
Write on!
