Big Red is, well, red soda that is very sweet. Red 40 provides the color; high fructose corn syrup provides the sweet. It is a common accompaniment to BBQ in Texas. I guess that is because the bright sweetnees of the soda provides a counterpoint to the heavy savoriness of smoked meat. Perhaps it allows the BBQ feaster to push past the point of the brain saying "no mas." If so, then I have discovered a secret weapon in the BBQ realm.
